stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Omaze was suppose to announce on it's site the winner of the Bocelli trip,

I am sure they do not know what a scam this Omaze is.....they have had many complaints online in his fan list of the winner which was never announced but pd. fans that monopolized the fan page , kicking anyone out that ask the question about any winner...……………….

Omaze was to announce this...…………….they did not, the Bocelli fan page did not release the winner but those that questioned it were kicked out of the fan page...…………………...a total scam...………..I want my money back, over 50.00 for donating to such a scam, reporting the BBB. which is a joke...…

and the Federal Gov...…

They had 2 sexy dressed women that made comments on how they loved the singers and were going to meet them, one was Russian and the other from another foreign country...…….I caught on early and am going to release this information to the right people...…this kind of talk is unheard of in America

We were told they would release a name on OMAZE and FB ANDREA BOCELLI FAN PAGE...…...a lie....the Russian woman and another hacked my page on FB who kept saying for 2 months she was going to Italy......

I’ve participated in Omaze and have seen other celebrities run contest from it . I HAVE NEVER seen a winner.

And I waited for one to be announced in 2 contests and nothing . I will NEVER participate again . And I know I’m not the only one that feels this way .

I’ve seen hundreds of people asking “Who won” and no one ever gets a response . They’re full of it !

Possible solution??

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Hey folks, I thank you all for the honest reviews of Omaze; it has this “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn’t” feel to it. Was thinking that an email or call to the charity purported to receive the set forth percentage of the funds raised might help resolve any concerns you might have regarding the sweepstakes? You could even contact them again after the date the award and find out if the item had been distributed. Since the charities involved would have their reputations severely tarnished by the fact that Omaze is a scam, they might want to be aware that their good name is being used to conduct fraud. Thanks again for your reviews. I won’t get into any of their sweepstakes until I determine they are absolutely legit.

OMAZE steals your money

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

There needs to be an investigation and class action lawsuit for this company and any other company that steals from those whom really believe they are 1. Donating to charity and 2.

Think there is a possibility to actually hang with a celebrity. I imagine these celebrities have been informed of the inappropriate use of their name and false advertising of “events” with these celebrities. When will a lawyer step up and actually file appropriate charges. True charities do not risk exposure to scams as big as this.

If they are in fact selecting winners are the winners just the buddies of the two losers that started OMAZE? Full transparency OMAZE-we all know these “canned” video announcements are fake.

Omaze was nothing other than absolutely misleading within their “offer”. I hope they get sued and shut down.

If I meet the person responsible for their slimy (dishonest/misleading) advertising tactics, I will absolutely not spare an adjective.

I am being congenial with this written response to my feelings regarding this companies tactics. If you want to know how I really feel, and desire to hear me express these feelings in “Military English”, then swing by my place; I’d be happy to expound in person.

John Oliver makes Omaze Legit. End of story.

You are hilarious. Do you actually think celebrities would make these videos for Omaze if it was a scam???

Do you know that would end a career? You Are a Moron!!!

Actually, the "Celebrities" they use are not the sharpest group of people on the Planet. That alone is scary considering that many of those who's profession is "Make Believe" seem to think they are enlightened by that profession!

True, you can't expect that just because you enter a few times you should win but I had a few negative interactions with them on the phone and apparently, there has been some questions about the "winners" so there may well be a legal problem with them. To assume that just because a company uses a Celebrity to hawk its wares makes them trustworthy or honest is at least bit naive. Celebrities have for year supported anything or anyone who hands them a check and many have ended up in Court explaining their interactions with some less than savory people. That being said, my complaint was with the amount of money Omaze keeps like many such organizations and as they refused to explain who, where, how, why and percentages, I've gone back to simply sending the charities of my choice donations directly without a middle man.

This assures that 100% of the money actually arrives at the Charity, it gives the donor tax receipt's if they so choose and guaranteed, a much larger chunk of the donors green goes where its need most, not into the pocket of a third party. If you are throwing the odd $25 dollars out thinking you'll win a Ferrari?

Best forget that, simply look at the numbers they quote as the benefit of the "Experience", triple it and divide by your $25 dollars and you'll see why you aren't winning. It's likely you have a better chance of being hit by lightning twice or winning the Powerball Lottery.

Damyan Hga

look at all these bitter idiots commenting... instant gratification and entitlement is why this kind of charity exists.. if you donate and don't win you cry like a baby!!

Guest

I saw the woman who won the prize to be on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (also w/ Jon Stewart under the desk). So, at least that one wasn't fake.

Guest

Never heard of 'em. You're going to have to do a better job explaining the nature and alleged purpose of your tormentor before I can understand your complaint.

Sketchy Scam

Last year they “raised” $100,000,000 for charity. According to their website that equates to: $666,000,000+ grossed $466,000,000+ spent on ads/prizes $100,000,000+ given to charity $100,000,000+ pocketed. I mean spent on running the lottery—I mean charity. Lord know how much more since then.

Donated and waited, Now I see it is fake

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I donated more than $300 dollars and spent enough time on one giveaway that they said I had 47,549 entries into the sweepstakes! And still no email and no phone call. I have looked for youtube videos, twitter and instagram announcements of people who have won something, an experience or a car, obviously they'd be sharing their big win and somehow there is nothing! I want a way to guarantee its really people winning. Even a few times I messaged them on Instagram and email asking how many entries were there so far for the giveaway and every time they answered that that information was confidential or not allowed to be shared. It makes sense, so you can't calculate your odds of winning and want to pay in more, but also seems tricky.

Your donation goes to the charity listed, i.e. World Vision was the charity supporting the game of thrones prize and is tax deductible.

Omaze simply collects the money for them and charges World Vision a fee for doing so. Check with your CPA with any questions.

If You read more, you'll note that part of your donation goes to your charity. 10% of your donation actually, as per Omaze's Contest terms and conditions. The rest is pocketed or spent on the prize.

Devastated Omaze Disqualfied Me Winning Trip When in Hospital

Devastated!!! OMAZE contests don't tell you when enter need to respond within 24 hrs.

In hospital when name drawn & disqualfied me from winning a luxurious trip to St. Barts. They should have indicated the 24 hour response clause in their what lawyers want you to know, entry form & in e-mail subject line as could have had my husband check my e-mail if known. Their rules often don't download & when I finally got one to download, it doesn't state that you have only 24 hours to respond, but instead states that when you receive their documents for you to SIGN you need to return them within 24 hours.

In addition it appears that I'm locked out of winning any other of their contests as none of their experiences will completely show on my computer any more. Cry

Anybody can fake an email! It’s a scam.

Consider yourself lucky they cut you off but keep an eye on your credit card or bank account balances because they have all that information. They take the scammed money from you then disappear!

Whatever made you think you would get anything? I emailed a mentioned “winner” who said that they were scammed lol

It is in the rules , the things our lawyers want you to know. It should be longer.

Leann - that is not true. If you carefully read the rules, which I did, it specifically states that once you receive the winning documents to sign & return, THEN you have 24 hours to do so (i.e.

acceptance of prize, stating you won't hold them liable, & in Canada a skill testing question). I did not receive any of the documents therefore that 24 hour clause did not yet apply as I didn't receive the documents. Most contests give you up to a week to reply & then once you reply & receive the documents, then have 24 hours to return them. Official rules takes precedence & no where does it state in Omaze's official rules that you only have 24 hours to reply.

It appears & I believe that Omaze's staff have misinterpreted the Official rules & that I should have been awarded the prize. They need to abide by the rules.

Any legitimate sweepstakes in the USA has a 'no purchase necessary' clause. Even McDonald's and Taco Bell. Just sayin'

For the sake of all that is sane, please stop it with the all capital letter format. It is antagonizing to at least this reader as I don't appreciate being yelled at. I'm suffieciently educated to understand your displeasure without the stomping.

Something is not right.

Omaze is a US Federal and California state registered "for profit" company. It is not a registered as a charity.

Yet they claim donations to them are charitable deductions and claim you can deduct your donations. . This claim itself is illegal. If people make large donations and deduct them, they can be prosecuted for IRS fraud later.

Even if they were lied to. The IRS and law requires each person making donations VERIFY for a fact that the donation is lawfully deductible. Something is wrong with all this.

There simply is no basis for any of this companies claims it is a charity to be true,. .

People. You do realize that a non-profit company still needs to make a profit, yes?

And that they have marketing expenses, operational expenses, all things that any other business has. They have to pay for services and staff just like any other company. Or do you think non-profits use magic to get things done?

You have to spend money to make money. It's true for any business.

Guest

Reading is your friend. You might want to try to read the information on the site before you make false claims that could be resolved by simply reading.

Naftuli Bug

agreed, dodgy company

Guest

If you read the information at the bottom of EVERY SINGLE contest, it states very clearly the percentage breakdowns of where the money goes. Additionally, they state in their FAQs that they are registered as a for-profit company, and simply say, "If you choose to write off" your donation.

They are not tax attorneys, they can't tell you that you can or cannot write off something.

But clearly, you can write of the portion of the entry fee that goes to the charity. Dang people, learn to read.

Guest

If you read the "Stuff our lawyers want you to read" you'll see that the "net proceeds" of these campaigns are paid to Charities Aid Foundation of America (CAFA), an IRS recognized US public charity. So, you can take the "donation" as a tax deductible charitable contribution.

HOWEVER, what I didn't see specified is how they calculate the net proceeds. I know for a fact that the people calling you to donate to Federation for the Blind or some other charity, only give 2% of what they collect to the actual charity. The rest is taken by the salesperson that called you and the organization for whom he or she works.

A scam if you ask me. I'm not sure if Omaze is any different in that respect.

Guest

So does that mean I won't get to watch Halloween with Jamie Lee curtis

Dev Roy

Net proceeds. Lol.

This is the only good or relevant comment.

From the faq... "Is my contribution tax deductible?

Juliana July 14, 2017 15:41 Omaze is a for-profit company. Officially, our competitions are 'sweepstakes,' and it's important to note that there are varying legal interpretations on whether a contribution that also awards people consideration (chances of winning a grand prize) is deductible. If you choose to write off your donation, you can use the confirmation email we sent you at the time of purchase for documentation.

In many states within the US, no additional receipt is required for contributions of $250 or less. If the expenditure is $250 or more, please email us at weloveyou@***.com and we will issue a receipt." They even clearly state omaze keeps 20% of the take....

A Chemistry Professor at Hillsdale College won the Ireland game of thrones trip, and he is a real person. Also, when you donate the money goes to the specific charity listed for prize and that is the charity you list for your tax exemption. Sounds like people may be confused. However, being an international organization, your odds are probably better to win the po we all than an Omaze prize. The difference is the ability to claim on your taxes.
